Farioli is named head coach of Porto.

The Portuguese team announced on Sunday that Francesco Farioli, a former manager of Ajax Amsterdam and Nice, has been hired as Porto’s head coach for a two-year term.

Farioli resigned Ajax in May after the Dutch team’s late-season collapse cost them a record 37th Eredivisie title, allowing PSV Eindhoven to win it on the last day.

In addition to coaching Turkish teams Fatih Karagumruk and Alanyaspor, the Italian guided Nice to a fifth-place finish in Ligue 1 during the 2023–24 campaign.

He takes Martin Anselmi’s position, who left Porto earlier this month following their elimination from the Club World Cup group stage.
Last season, Porto came in third place in the Primeira Liga, nine points behind winners Sporting.
