FC Barcelona are preparing a bid to host the 2028-29 UEFA Champions League final at the newly redeveloped Camp Nou, according to reports from Spanish media.
The club is reportedly completing the final documentation required for its application, with the submission deadline set for June 10.
Barcelona’s proposal has already received backing from the Spanish government, the Barcelona City Council and the Royal Spanish Football Federation, strengthening the club’s position as it seeks to bring Europe’s biggest club match back to the city.
If selected by UEFA, the final would mark another historic moment for Camp Nou, one of football’s most iconic venues. The stadium previously hosted the European Cup final in 1989 and the memorable 1999 UEFA Champions League final, when Manchester United completed a dramatic comeback victory over Bayern Munich.
Barcelona are currently undertaking a major redevelopment project aimed at transforming Camp Nou into one of the most modern stadiums in world football. Hosting the Champions League final would serve as a showcase for the venue following its extensive renovation.
The report comes amid continued discussion surrounding Barcelona’s relationship with European football authorities and their domestic rivals. Separate reports have suggested that Real Madrid have raised concerns with UEFA regarding historical matters involving the Catalan club, although no official action has been announced by the governing body.
For now, Barcelona’s focus is on securing UEFA’s approval and positioning the revamped Camp Nou as the stage for European club football’s biggest night in 2029.
