Al-Ittihad Wins 10th Saudi Pro League Title
Al-Ittihad, led by captain Karim Benzema, won the Saudi Pro League title after beating Al-Raed 3-1 on Thursday. They secured the title with two games still left to play.
With this win, Al-Ittihad now has 77 points from 32 matches, staying nine points ahead of second-place Al-Hilal.
The team, coached by Laurent Blanc, needed just one more win to claim their 10th league title — and their first since 2023. But it didn’t start well, as Al-Raed, already relegated, scored first in the 9th minute through Omar Gonzalez.
Al-Ittihad didn’t give up. Steven Bergwijn scored to make it 1-1 just 12 minutes later. Then Danilo Pereira scored with a header right before halftime to give them the lead.
Just two minutes into the second half, Abdulrahman Al-Oboud scored again to make it 3-1 and seal the win.
Al-Ittihad, based in Jeddah, now look forward to the King’s Cup final against Al-Qadsiah on May 30, where they hope to win another trophy this season.
