Aouar’s Last-Minute Goal Seals Big Win for Al-Ittihad
Houssem Aouar scored in the final moments to help Al-Ittihad beat Al-Nassr 3-2 on Wednesday, keeping them on track to win the Saudi Pro League.
The match started with a quick goal from Sadio Mane, who gave Al-Nassr the lead just three minutes in. He later set up Ayman Yahya to make it 2-0 before halftime. Though the ball touched Mane’s hand before the second goal, VAR allowed it to stand.
After the break, Al-Ittihad came back strong. Karim Benzema made it 2-1 with a powerful header in the 49th minute. Then, N’Golo Kante scored the equaliser after a fast counter-attack.
In extra time, Moussa Diaby crossed the ball, and Aouar calmly tapped it in, completing the comeback.
Al-Ittihad now have 71 points, six more than Al-Hilal, with four games to go. They also have a chance to win two trophies this season as they’re in the King Cup final.
As for Cristiano Ronaldo’s team, Al-Nassr, the loss leaves them in fourth place with 60 points. That hurts their chances of playing in next season’s top Asian tournament, especially after Al-Ahli recently won the continental title.
