Besiktas launch shock loan bid for Ter Stegen as Barca wait for more offers

Barcelona has received their first concrete offer for Marc-André ter Stegen, with Besiktas stepping forward with a loan bid that would see the Turkish side cover the keeper’s full wages and hold an €8m option to buy next summer.

Fanatik claim Besiktas have gone in early, tabling a proposal that runs until the end of the season and includes a non-mandatory purchase clause roughly matching the German’s current market value. Barça, juggling their own financial tightrope, are said to be open to letting Ter Stegen leave in January — but only if the player pushes for the move himself.

For now, talks hasn’t advanced. Barcelona expect more enquiries in the next weeks, knowing full well that a keeper of Ter Stegen’s calibre won’t stay short of suitors for long. Still, Besiktas are treating this as priority business. Veteran Mert Günok’s patchy form has left them scrambling, and the club’s hierarchy want a safe pair of hands in as soon as the window opens.

A major driver behind the approach is sporting director Eduard Graf, who built much of his career at Borussia Dortmund and knows the German market inside out. That link is seen as crucial in convincing Ter Stegen and his camp that a mid-season switch to Istanbul isn’t as wild as it sounds. Regular minutes in the Süper Lig and Europa League are being dangled as part of the pitch.

Besiktas view Ter Stegen not just as a short-term fix, but as the backbone of their long-term rebuild. Whether the 31-year-old bites remains to be seen. With Barça expecting more offers and the January window shaping up to be lively, this one could run a bit before landing.
