Endrick Joins Lyon on Six Month Loan from Real Madrid

Lyon has secured the signing of Real Madrid striker Endrick on a six-month loan, with the two clubs finalizing an agreement on Monday that does not include an option to buy.

The deal ends weeks of negotiations and will see the 19-year-old arrive in France on Wednesday to complete his medical and sign his contract, marking a significant addition to Lyon’s attacking options for the second half of the season.

Lyon will pay €1 million to cover part of Endrick’s wages, while the Brazilian forward is set to wear the No. 9 shirt. The Ligue 1 club beat off competition from several European sides to land one of the most highly rated young forwards in world football.

The move is viewed as a major boost for Lyon and for Ligue 1, which continues to attract elite young talent. Endrick had initially hoped to join a Champions League club but accepted the chance to play regular football in the Europa League as a decisive step in his development.

The Brazilian was keen on Lyon from the outset and was particularly encouraged by discussions with head coach Paulo Fonseca, who speaks Portuguese and outlined a clear role for him in the squad. The presence of fellow Brazilians Emerson and Abner is also expected to ease his transition into French football.

From Real Madrid’s perspective, the loan offers much-needed game time. Endrick was not part of Xabi Alonso’s plans this season and has featured sparingly, logging just 11 minutes in LaLiga against Valencia in November and another brief appearance in the Champions League against Manchester City.
