Endrick Targets Brazil Recall After Loan Move to Lyon
Brazilian prodigy Endrick has set his sights on reigniting his international career after sealing a loan move to Lyon, hoping the switch will provide the platform to earn a recall to Brazil’s squad ahead of the World Cup.

The 19-year-old has endured a frustrating spell at Real Madrid, featuring for just 99 minutes in the first half of the season under new coach Xabi Alonso. That lack of playing time marked a stark contrast to the faith shown in him by Carlo Ancelotti last year, when Endrick made 11 appearances for Brazil in 2024 following his move from Palmeiras. In 2025, however, he has worn the yellow jersey only once.
Speaking ahead of his likely debut in the French Cup against Lille, Endrick was clear about his ambitions. “My aim is to help Lyon, to play and to win. When you’re Brazilian, everyone dreams of playing for the national team. I haven’t been picked recently, but I will do everything to get back in,” he said.
His arrival has sparked excitement among Lyon supporters, drawing comparisons to the buzz created by Sonny Anderson’s signing in 1999 and Yoann Gourcuff’s arrival in 2010. Technical director Matthieu Louis-Jean praised Endrick’s qualities, describing him as “immensely talented, quick, and able to finish off chances with his goal sense.”
Lyon, buoyed by a 3-1 victory over Monaco that lifted them to fifth in Ligue 1 and within touching distance of the Champions League places, believe Endrick could be the missing piece in their push for European qualification. General manager Michael Gerlinger expressed confidence in the youngster’s impact, saying: “We are convinced that Endrick is the element that we lack and he will give the team power for the second half of the season.”
For Endrick, the loan represents more than just a chance to play regular football. It is an opportunity to prove himself once again, to rediscover the form that made him one of Brazil’s most exciting prospects, and to stake his claim for a place on the biggest stage of all.
