Guardiola Reaffirms Manchester City Commitment Amid Maresca Speculation

Pep Guardiola has underlined his intention to remain at Manchester City until the end of his contract in 2027, despite reports linking former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca with the Etihad hot seat.

The 54-year-old, who celebrates a decade in charge of City this year, dismissed suggestions of an imminent departure. “I have a contract. I’ve said it a thousand million times. It’s 10 years here. I will leave one day, but I have a contract. I’m happy and I want to fight with my team,” Guardiola said.

Speculation intensified after Maresca, once Guardiola’s assistant at City, left Chelsea on New Year’s Day. It is understood his departure followed talks with City about a possible future role. Guardiola praised the Italian, calling him “an incredible manager and an incredible person,” but stressed that Chelsea’s decision was theirs alone.

City’s Title Chase

Guardiola’s reaffirmation comes as City chase a seventh Premier League crown under his leadership. A goalless draw at Sunderland on Thursday left them four points behind leaders Arsenal at the halfway stage. The Spaniard highlighted the backing he has received from the club hierarchy, recalling their support during a difficult run last season.

Guardiola urged his side to focus on themselves ahead of a demanding week that also includes a clash with Brighton.
