Inter Miami Strengthen Squad With Goalkeeper of the Year St. Clair and Defender Mura

Inter Miami have moved decisively in the transfer market by securing the signature of 2025 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Dayne St. Clair, with the Canada international arriving on a one year deal that includes an option for an additional season. The Herons also confirmed the arrival of Argentine right back Facundo Mura, adding further depth and experience to a squad preparing to defend its MLS Cup crown.

St. Clair’s arrival addresses a key area for Javier Mascherano, who relied heavily on veteran Oscar Ustari last season, with Rocco Rios Novo also featuring prominently during the title run that ended with victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS Cup final. Inter Miami see the 28-year-old as a long term upgrade between the posts after his standout performances for Minnesota United.

The Canadian goalkeeper arrives in South Florida with a growing reputation as one of the league’s most consistent performers. Minnesota United benefited from his presence during back to back Western Conference semifinal appearances in 2024 and 2025, while his individual accolades underline the scale of the signing for the Herons.

St. Clair’s 2025 campaign marked the high point of his club career so far. He led MLS with a 77.93 percent save percentage, recorded a league high 113 saves, and kept 10 clean sheets across 30 regular season matches. He was also the only goalkeeper to combine a goals against average of 1.00 with a save percentage above 75 percent, numbers that explain why Inter Miami moved quickly to secure his services.

The goalkeeper’s journey has been steady rather than instant. Drafted seventh overall in 2019, St. Clair spent time on loan with Forward Madison and San Antonio FC before establishing himself at Minnesota. His return to the club proved decisive, earning him MLS All Star recognition in 2022 and again in 2025, with an All Star MVP award highlighting his growing influence.

At international level, St. Clair has accumulated 18 caps for Canada since making his debut in World Cup qualifying in 2021. With the 2026 World Cup approaching and matches set to be hosted in Canada, his move to Inter Miami offers another platform to cement his place on the global stage.

Alongside St. Clair, Inter Miami also confirmed the signing of Facundo Mura on a contract running through 2029. The Argentine defender joins as a free agent after ending his spell with Racing Club, linking up with compatriot Lionel Messi in Florida.

Mura arrives with a reputation as an attacking full back, having contributed 12 goals and 15 assists during four seasons with Racing between 2022 and 2025. His experience with Colon and Estudiantes, combined with four major trophies, adds further winning pedigree to Mascherano’s squad.

The 26-year-old will be keen to make an immediate impression, both domestically and potentially on the international scene. Although he featured for Argentina at the 2019 Under 20 World Cup, a senior call up has so far eluded him amid fierce competition.

Inter Miami’s latest additions come at a pivotal moment for the club. The reigning MLS Cup winners will begin the defence of their title on the road as preparations continue for the move into the new Freedom Park stadium. Their 2026 campaign opens on February 21 against LAFC, with the long awaited home debut at Freedom Park scheduled for April 4 against Austin FC, a fitting stage for the club’s new signings to begin their next chapter.
