Liverpool Sign Mor Talla Ndiaye in £1m Deal for Under-21s

Liverpool have completed the signing of teenage defender Mor Talla Ndiaye in a deal worth around £1 million, with the Senegal youth international set to join Rob Page’s Under-21 side at Anfield.

The 18-year-old centre-back arrives from Amitie FC, the Senegalese club owned by former Chelsea striker Demba Ba, and will begin his Liverpool career in the club’s academy structure as he adapts to English football.

Ndiaye’s move was confirmed by the club after his recent involvement on the international stage, where he represented Senegal at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, making four appearances as his side reached the knockout rounds.

The transfer marks another step in Liverpool’s strategy of identifying young defensive talent early, with Ndiaye viewed as a long-term prospect who could progress into senior contention if his development continues on its current path.

Anfield officials see the signing as a low-risk investment with significant upside, particularly given Ndiaye’s exposure to elite youth tournaments and his experience across multiple Senegal age groups.

The defender made his name in Senegal through disciplined performances and physical maturity beyond his years, traits that stood out during his World Cup campaign and attracted interest from European clubs.

During the tournament, Ndiaye was a consistent presence at the heart of defence, showing calm distribution under pressure and an ability to read danger early, qualities Liverpool value highly in their young centre-backs.

His former academy paid tribute to his journey, praising his work ethic and character, and highlighting him as an example to younger players progressing through their system.

Liverpool’s youth recruitment drive does not stop there. The club have also secured the signing of 19-year-old centre-back Noah Adekoya from Burnley and are monitoring Austria Vienna defender Ifeanyi Ndukwe as they continue to strengthen Page’s squad.

The Under-21s currently sit 14th in Premier League 2 after a mixed start to the season, and the addition of Ndiaye is expected to add depth and competition across the defensive line.

For Ndiaye, the immediate challenge will be settling into his new environment and earning Page’s trust, with the longer-term goal of forcing his way into Arne Slot’s first-team plans as Liverpool continue to refresh their squad with emerging talent.
