Manchester United hopeful Mazraoui and Martinez will return before Liverpool match
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim said defenders Noussair Mazraoui and Lisandro Martinez are nearing returns from injury ahead of the Premier League trip to Liverpool on Oct. 19.
Mazraoui, who has been sidelined with a thigh injury, missed United’s recent matches against Sunderland and Brentford. Amorim said the Moroccan full-back was expected to remain out until after the international break but could be available for selection at Anfield.
Lisandro Martinez, recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in February, has rejoined group training.
“We miss Licha a lot, especially at this moment. We miss his aggression in everything he does,” Amorim told reporters.
United have used Diogo Dalot, Amad Diallo and Patrick Dorgu as full-back options, while Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Matthijs de Ligt have competed for places in defence.
