Max Dowman Scores Twice as Arsenal Beat Ipswich to Reach Carabao Cup Last 16

Arsenal teenager Max Dowman marked his first appearance of the season with two goals as Mikel Arteta’s side beat Ipswich Town 4-2 to advance to the Carabao Cup round of 16.

The 16-year-old opened the scoring inside seven minutes with an impressive solo effort, carrying the ball beyond the final defender before finishing past the Ipswich goalkeeper.

Noni Madueke doubled Arsenal’s advantage shortly afterwards after capitalising on an error from Ipswich’s goalkeeper during an attempted build-up from the back. The forward reacted quickly to the loose ball and volleyed into the net.

Dowman completes his brace

Arsenal continued to control the contest after the interval and restored their three-goal advantage through Dowman.

Martin Zubimendi provided the assist, allowing Dowman to finish calmly with the inside of his boot and complete his brace.

The goals made Dowman only the second player to score twice for a Premier League club in any competition at the age of 16, matching a record previously set by Wayne Rooney for Everton.

Merino adds fourth as Arsenal progress

Mikel Merino added Arsenal’s fourth goal with a composed left-footed strike that found the bottom corner, putting the result beyond doubt.

Ipswich responded with two late consolation goals, but Arsenal had already established a decisive advantage and held on to secure their place in the last 16.

For Dowman, the night represented a significant personal milestone. His two goals provided an immediate reminder of the attacking potential within Arsenal’s academy as the teenager continues his development under Arteta.

Arsenal now move into the next round of the competition with their pursuit of domestic silverware continuing on multiple fronts.
