PSG Secure Crucial Champions League Win with Dominant Performance Against Salzburg

A superb finish from Goncalo Ramos, a strike by Nuno Mendes, and a late effort from Desire Doue earned Paris St Germain an essential Champions League triumph, as they defeated RB Salzburg 3-0 on Tuesday to advance into the playoff rankings.

Luis Enrique’s team, who have experienced a dreadful opening to their Champions League run, now hold 24th place in the table, narrowly within the playoff zone, with seven points from six matches, while Salzburg remain 32nd.

PSG appeared energetic in the initial half and came near early via Lee Kang-in’s powerful shot and Vitinha’s strike, which was stopped by goalkeeper Alexander Schlager.

Bradley Barcola nearly scored as he charged into the penalty area following an excellent dribble but failed to convert.

“I’m lacking that final touch in front of the net that will unlock my confidence. I don’t think it is a barrier, but we’ve discussed it plenty among ourselves. I need to keep improving,” Barcola stated.

Achraf Hakimi assisted Ramos for the first goal on the half-hour mark.

The Parisians maintained their threat in the second period as the hosts struggled to establish control. The nearest Salzburg came was through Nene Dorgeles in the 63rd minute, when he advanced into the area on the left and aimed at the net, but PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma blocked the attempt.

However, PSG were the dominant force, and Mendes extended their lead in the 72nd minute with a blistering left-footed shot from Doue’s assist.

Defender Lucas Hernandez returned to the lineup following a prolonged injury and substituted Mendes six minutes before the final whistle, just before Doue secured a third goal to confirm an important victory.
