“Bazball” is the name commonly given to the aggressive style of Test cricket adopted by England under captain Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum in 2022. Remember to also play on best betting sites – 1xbet.co.ke/en covers everything related to cricket.
The term refers to McCullum’s nickname, “Baz”, and became associated with a philosophy built around 3 elements:
- attacking batting;
- positive decision-making;
- and a willingness to take risks rather than prioritising draws.
McCullum himself initially called the label “silly”, but it soon became widely used to describe England’s new approach. The 1xBet platform offers you the chance to play on the best betting sites that cover all matches of English cricket too.
A transformation of the entire team
The transformation began in April and May 2022, when Stokes replaced Joe Root as Test captain and McCullum was appointed head coach. England had struggled badly beforehand, winning only once in their previous 17 Tests. By using the mobile application 1xBet download, it will also be possible for you to bet on the English national cricket team on the go too.
Under the new leadership, however, the team immediately changed its mindset. Batters were encouraged to score quickly, captains became more willing to declare, and players were given greater freedom to attack without excessive fear of failure.
The results were dramatic. England won nine of their 15 Tests in 2022, losing only three, while scoring at a run rate of 4.12 per over. It is also a great idea to enjoy the mobile 1xBet application by deciding to download it and making bets on Test cricket on it.
Their most striking performance came in Pakistan, where they won the three-Test series 3-0. In the first Test at Rawalpindi, England scored 506 runs on the opening day, the highest total ever recorded on the first day of a Test.
A different approach
Bazball also changed perceptions of what was possible in Test cricket. Everyone is also invited to start online cricket betting at 1xBet on the broad selection of Test matches featured too.
Rather than treating five-day cricket as a contest primarily about avoiding defeat, England attempted to create opportunities to win, even when that involved significant risks. Their aggressive style continued into the 2023 Ashes, where they recovered from 2-0 down to draw the series 2-2. And whenever the Ashes are being played, remember to start making online cricket betting at the 1xBet platform on that legendary series.
