Top 10 Players From Star-Studded El Clásico: Surprise Hero Steal the Show

Two of the biggest names on the field — Vinícius Júnior and Lamine Yamal — surprisingly didn’t make the list this time around.

The first El Clásico of the 2025–26 season had everything: red cards, tense moments, and many great performances as Real Madrid and Barcelona meet again in Spain’s most famous rivalry.

Real Madrid gave Barcelona only their second league lost of the season, winning 2–1 at the Santiago Bernabéu. Goals from Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham gave Xabi Alonso’s team a five-point lead in La Liga table.

Even though Barcelona couldn’t continue their winning form, some players still showed strong display — and none of them was young star Lamine Yamal.

Here’s top 10 rated players from Sunday’s heated clash.

9. Federico Valverde & Fermín López — 7.3

Federico Valverde and Fermín López start the list, both earning 7.3 ratings but for very different reason.

Valverde, playing out of position as emergency right-back, did great job locking down the flank. Even while sick, the Uruguayan managed to keep Marcus Rashford mostly quiet all match.

López, on the other hand, was one of few Barça players who caused problem for Madrid’s defence. The 22-year-old scored his team’s only goal and had four shots on target — more than Yamal, Ferran Torres and Rashford combined.

7. Dean Huijsen & Marcus Rashford — 7.4

Both Dean Huijsen and Marcus Rashford got 7.4 for their performances on El Clásico debut.

Huijsen, just returning from injury, looked calm and confident like an experienced player. His goal-line clearance saved Madrid’s lead and showed great defensive awareness.

Rashford was again one of the bright spots for Barcelona, setting up López’s goal and creating most of his team’s chances.

6. Eduardo Camavinga — 7.5

Camavinga’s inclusion in the lineup was a bit surprise, but the Frenchman made full use of it.

He worked tirelessly all game — defending, recovering balls and joining attack when needed. After missing almost five months with injury, Camavinga showed no sign of rust. His dribbles and energy gave Madrid big boost in midfield.

5. Kylian Mbappé — 7.7

Mbappé ranks fifth with 7.7 rating. The French star was dangerous from the start, scoring once and nearly more.

He actually scored three goals, but two didn’t count because of offside and VAR. Still, he was unstoppable at times with his pace and movement.

A missed penalty in the 52nd minute stopped him from getting higher score — otherwise, it would have been perfect night for him.

4. Aurélien Tchouaméni — 7.8

Tchouaméni doesn’t always get the headlines, but he was brilliant again. With a 7.8 rating, he completely controlled the middle of the pitch, winning most duels and keeping Barcelona’s midfield quiet.

He even drew the foul that led to Pedri’s red card in stoppage time, finishing the game for good. Simple but very effective display from the Frenchman.

3. Éder Militão — 8.0

Back from his second ACL injury, Militão looked like he never left. The Brazilian defender earned an 8.0 after a rock-solid performance.

He won nearly every duel, made most tackles, and completely shut down Ferran Torres, who touched the ball just 26 times before being subbed. Militão even assisted Bellingham’s winner — not bad for a comeback match.

2. Jude Bellingham — 8.3

Bellingham was once again the main man for Real Madrid, rated 8.3. He assisted Mbappé’s goal and then scored the winner himself.

Fully fit after shoulder problems, Bellingham looked sharp, creative and confident. He was everywhere on the pitch, dictating the tempo and finding space behind Barcelona’s defence.

1. Wojciech Szczęsny — 9.0

The surprise of the night — Wojciech Szczęsny — was top-rated player with 9.0.

The Polish keeper faced 23 shots and made nine saves, including a huge one from Mbappé’s penalty in the 52nd minute. That stop kept Barça alive in the match.

He was also very good with the ball, missing only two passes and finding teammates with long balls often. Without his big performance, Real Madrid probably score more goals and finish the game early.
