Winning the FA Cup is ‘special’ for Eze
England international Eberechi Eze’s 16th-minute strike secured Crystal Palace’s first major trophy in the club’s 119-year history. “It’s special. I’m speechless,” said Palace hero Eze.
“We have just played against a team that has been considered the best in the world for a long time. To show spirit and energy like this is fantastic,” added the 26 year old.
Palace were lucky that goalkeeper Dean Henderson was not sent off early after catching the ball outside the box. He also saved a first half penalty from Omar Marmoush. Despite having more possession, City were unable to capitalise.
“I couldn’t breathe. They kept the ball so well,” Eze said of Man City’s pressure filled start.
“We also knew that whenever we had a chance to get close to their goal, we had to take advantage. Luckily we did that today, because it is not easy.”
This victory also helps Crystal Palace participate in European cups for the first time, specifically Europa League, next season.
