Yamal Commits to Barcelona with New Contract Until 2031
The highly-rated 17-year-old, who played a pivotal role in Barcelona’s domestic treble this season and Spain’s European Championship triumph in 2024, has become a cornerstone of the club’s long-term plans.
The deal was finalised on Tuesday with the assistance of his agent, Jorge Mendes, whose influence proved crucial in reaching an agreement with Barcelona sporting director Deco and club president Joan Laporta. Yamal’s new contract comes after a stellar season in which he scored 18 goals and provided 21 assists for his team.
“FC Barcelona and Lamine Yamal have reached an agreement for the renewal of his contract, which will now tie him to the Club until 30 June 2031,” reads the statement from Barcelona.
As a result, the contract reportedly includes a unique Ballon d’Or bonus clause, a nod to the winger’s potential to be crowned the best player in the world, following his impressive performances in La Liga and the Champions League.
Barcelona’s decision to secure his services for the next six years comes amidst continued financial pressures, underlining the club’s determination to lock down their most valuable young assets. This renewal also demonstrates their faith in Yamal’s ability to lead the team into a new era of success.
