Zamalek and Coach Peseiro Part Ways
Zamalek football club has ended its contract with Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro by mutual agreement, the club announced on Wednesday. This comes after less than three months together, due to disappointing results.
“We’ve agreed with coach Peseiro to end the contract peacefully,” Zamalek said on Facebook. “We wish him success in the future.”
Peseiro, 65, had joined the team on February 14. He became one of the few coaches to manage both top Egyptian clubs — Zamalek and Al-Ahly.
During his time, Zamalek were knocked out of the CAF Confederation Cup and the Egyptian League Cup. They also dropped to third place in the league, seven points behind leaders Pyramids.
Before this, Peseiro coached several national teams, including Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, and Venezuela. He also worked with clubs in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
