Bellingham scores again as Madrid rout Valencia

Kylian Mbappé scored twice and Jude Bellingham netted for the third consecutive match as Real Madrid extended their lead at the top of LaLiga with a commanding 4–0 win over Valencia on Saturday.

The result moves Madrid seven points clear of second-placed Villarreal and eight ahead of Barcelona, underlining their dominance ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Liverpool. Mbappé’s first-half double set the tone before Bellingham struck just before the break, while Álvaro Carreras added a late fourth to seal an emphatic victory at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Madrid were on the front foot from the outset, with Mbappé forcing an early corner and Federico Valverde firing narrowly wide. Valencia, content to sit deep and counter, were soon under sustained pressure as goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala denied Bellingham in the 13th minute.

The breakthrough came six minutes later when referee Mateo Busquets Ferrer awarded Madrid a penalty following a VAR review for handball inside the area. Mbappé calmly converted from the spot, sending Agirrezabala the wrong way. The French forward doubled his tally in the 31st minute, arriving unmarked to steer home Arda Güler’s precise cross and make it 2–0.

Valencia’s resistance further crumbled just before halftime when Bellingham cut inside and curled a right-footed effort into the far corner, continuing his prolific scoring form since joining from Borussia Dortmund. Vinícius Júnior had earlier seen one of Madrid’s two penalties saved, but the hosts went into the break with an unassailable 3–0 lead.

Manager Xabi Alonso introduced Dani Ceballos and Eduardo Camavinga after the restart, maintaining his side’s intensity despite the comfortable scoreline. Thibaut Courtois was called into action to push away André Almeida’s long-range strike, but Valencia rarely threatened a comeback.

Carreras capped the performance eight minutes from time, blasting in from the edge of the box after Rodrygo’s initial effort was blocked. Substitute Javi Guerra came closest for Valencia, rattling the crossbar late on.

The result reinforced Madrid’s status as LaLiga’s form side, with Mbappé and Bellingham continuing to deliver decisive performances. Mbappé has now scored in five of his last six league appearances, while Bellingham’s composure and creativity have added a new dimension to Madrid’s midfield.

Real Madrid now shift their focus to European competition, where they will seek to carry their domestic momentum into the Champions League round of 16 against Liverpool.
