Diallo: Man Utd ‘disappointed’ with draw at Forest
Manchester United’s winning run came to an end on Saturday as Amad Diallo’s late equaliser salvaged a 2–2 draw against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, halting their bid for a fourth straight Premier League victory.
Casemiro opened the scoring for United from a controversial first-half corner, but Forest overturned the deficit early in the second half through quickfire goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Nicolò Savona. Diallo’s well-taken volley restored parity before the Ivory Coast international saw a stoppage-time effort cleared off the line.
Diallo admitted frustration at failing to extend the club’s momentum after October victories over Sunderland, Liverpool, and Brighton.
“Honestly, we are really disappointed to go home with one point,” Diallo told reporters. “We were in a good moment, winning three games in a row. We wanted to make it four, but we can learn from this and try to do better next time.”
Manager Rúben Amorim, marking the one-year anniversary of his appointment, praised his side’s resilience and highlighted a growing maturity compared to last season’s struggles.
“I think winning games always gives players confidence,” Diallo said. “Now everyone is in good moments. As a team, we are learning every day with the manager because we believe in his system. But today we are really disappointed because we demand a lot of ourselves.”
Amorim has increasingly relied on Diallo in a more advanced right wing-back role, a tactical shift that has brought out the 23-year-old’s pace, composure, and directness in wide areas. The Ivorian acknowledged the team’s adaptation to the Portuguese coach’s pressing structure.
“It wasn’t easy at the beginning for him or for us,” Diallo added. “Now we are trying to understand the system and do our best every game. We want to bring this club back to the level it deserves to be.”
United’s improved cohesion this season follows a summer overhaul, with the arrival of Bryan Mbeumo among the key reinforcements. Diallo noted the pair’s developing partnership on the right flank.
“We have a good relationship, especially because he speaks French,” he said. “We’re trying to connect both on and off the pitch. He’s humble and works hard — we’re trying to make that side strong.”
The draw leaves United seeking a return to form ahead of next weekend’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur. Forest, meanwhile, continue their European commitments with a midweek visit to Sturm Graz before hosting Leeds United in the Premier League.
Defender Savona, who scored his first league goal for Forest, said the squad’s focus remains on consistency.
“We had a good win against Porto, but now we need to work harder to win more games in both the Europa League and the Premier League,” he said. “That’s the mentality to have.”
