Real Madrid’s Éder Militão suffers leg injury on Brazil duty
MADRİD – Real Madrid defender Éder Militão has sustained an abductor injury to his right leg while on international duty with Brazil, the club said on Wednesday, leaving him unlikely to feature in Sunday’s LaLiga meeting with Elche.
Madrid confirmed that medical examinations carried out on Wednesday revealed damage to an abductor muscle suffered during Brazil’s 1–1 draw with Tunisia on Tuesday. Militão was substituted in the second half after feeling discomfort, prompting immediate assessment by the Brazilian medical team.
Although the Spanish champions did not provide a recovery timeline, a source familiar with the situation told ESPN that the 26-year-old is not expected to be available this weekend. The club said further updates will be issued as the defender continues treatment.
Militão, valued for his recovery pace, aerial dominance and one-v-one defending, has been a key component of Carlo Ancelotti’s back line when fit. His absence compounds Madrid’s defensive concerns, with Dean Huijsen, Eduardo Camavinga and Kylian Mbappé also currently sidelined.
Madrid hold a three-point lead over Barcelona after 12 league matches and face a congested schedule in the coming weeks. Militão’s setback adds fresh pressure on Ancelotti’s rotation options as the club navigates injuries across multiple positions.
