Motherwell values promising striker Tawanda Maswanhise at £4 million after increasing interest from European clubs this summer. Maswanhise has captured the imagination of Scottish Premiership supporters with his silky dribbling and natural goal-scoring touch this season.
Spanish giants Barcelona were among the clubs scouting the impressive Zimbabwean at the tail end of the domestic campaign. Still, Belgian outfit Anderlecht has been waiting patiently for an opportunity to submit a new offer for his services. According to Bettingtop10 Zimbabwe, a highly credible reviewer of betting sites in Zimbabwe, the Belgian outfit was known to have offered up to £3.75 million for Maswanhise earlier in the year. Still, Motherwell dismissed the bid, claiming their player was worth significantly more.
Why Tawanda Maswanshise Is Worth the Investment
It’s certainly reasonable they should hold firm given Maswanhise’s progress this season. The forward phenom enters with 17 goals so far in the league this season, helping Motherwell secure a Europa League spot, and looks to have all the tools to be a success at this level.
His swift feet and incisive dribbling let him beat defenders with ease, and his goal-scoring instincts make him a threat in the box. Maswanhise burst onto the scene for Motherwell over the last two seasons. A former Leicester City youth team player, he moved to Scotland over 10 years ago and spent several years in the club’s academy. He has since gone from strength to strength in his time with the Steelmen.
The 23-year-old isn’t short of ambition, but Motherwell fans will be hoping he has plenty more years left in Scotland. European interest could become harder for the Scottish side to turn down should Anderlecht lodge another bid. Still, they are somewhat protected by the inclusion of a release clause in Maswanhise’s contract. The clause means he could be kept at the club until the summer of 2021.
A move to Belgium would make sense for all parties involved, though. The London-born forward has developed into a prolific goalscorer in recent years and could fetch a tidy sum of around £4 million this summer.
This would also work nicely for Anderlecht as they look to add a younger player to their squad who could excite their fans and go on to achieve great things in Belgian football. Maswanhise still has plenty of time to prove himself. Still, he has impressed sufficiently this season that he looks more than capable of leading the line for Motherwell next term, and it will be interesting to see how this situation pans out.
