Nigeria Football Federation will host a three day women’s football administrators workshop this weekend in the Federal Capital, bringing together key stakeholders from across the West African region.
The programme, organised by WAFU Zone B in partnership with Confederation of African Football, will run from April 26 to 28 at the Exclusive Serene Hotel and Suites.
Participants will include chairpersons of women’s football commissions and heads of departments from the seven WAFU-B member nations: Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Niger, Togo and Benin.
NFF president Ibrahim Gusau, who also leads WAFU-B, is expected to open the workshop. He will be joined by WAFU-B Executive Director Philippe Tchere, CAF Head of Women’s Football Meskerem Goshime, WAFU-B Women’s Football Commission president Amina Amani, and Women’s Football Development Manager Precious Dede.
Dede, a former Nigeria international goalkeeper, will also take on a facilitator role alongside Meskerem and CAF instructors Jules McGeever and Thuba Sibanda.
The workshop will focus on strengthening the structure and growth of women’s football across the region through a mix of presentations and strategic sessions.
Day one will examine the evolution of the women’s game in Africa, place it in a global context, and assess regional progress, challenges and leadership dynamics.
On the second day, attention shifts to practical development tools, including strategic planning, club building models and branding, with case studies drawn from leading African clubs and national associations.
The final day will centre on long term planning, with delegates working through frameworks on setting objectives, defining pathways and translating ideas into actionable programmes.
The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by WAFU-B and CAF to accelerate the development of women’s football in West Africa, with a focus on coordination, leadership and sustainable growth.
