AC Milan have dismissed head coach Massimiliano Allegri following the club’s failure to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
The Serie A club confirmed on Monday that several senior figures within the football department had also left their positions as part of a major restructuring by ownership group RedBird Capital Partners.
Milan’s disappointing campaign ended with a 2-1 home defeat to Cagliari Calcio on Sunday, a result that confirmed they would miss out on Europe’s top club competition next season.
In an official statement, the club announced the departures of chief executive Giorgio Furlani, sporting director Igli Tare, technical director Geoffrey Moncada and Allegri.
“After the disappointment of last year, the objective was to return to the Champions League and build a foundation capable of competing consistently at the top of Serie A,” the statement said.
“It is now time for change and a complete reorganisation of football operations.”
Allegri only returned to Milan last year for a second spell in charge, more than a decade after his first tenure at the club ended.
The 57-year-old was brought in with the expectation of restoring Milan to the top level of Italian and European football, but inconsistent results throughout the season left the club outside the Champions League places.
Milan are expected to begin a search immediately for a new coaching staff and leadership structure ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
The club added that further announcements regarding replacements and future appointments would be made in the coming weeks.
