Barcelona Win Their 28th LaLiga Title After Beating Espanyol 2-0

Barcelona have won their 28th LaLiga title after a 2-0 victory over city rivals Espanyol. With this win, they now have 85 points — seven more than Real Madrid — and only two games left, so no one can catch them.

Real Madrid had a small chance to win the title, but they needed to win all their remaining games and hope Barcelona didn’t earn more than one point. That dream ended when 17-year-old Lamine Yamal scored a beautiful goal in the 53rd minute. Then, in extra time, Fermin Lopez scored the second goal, with an assist from Yamal.

This win marks a great first season for Barcelona’s coach Hansi Flick. His team has now won both the LaLiga and the Copa del Rey trophies. Barcelona will celebrate with their fans and receive the league trophy on Friday.

Interestingly, Barcelona almost won the title a day earlier, without even playing, but Real Madrid scored a last-minute goal against Mallorca to delay it. So, Barca had to finish the job themselves.

Before the match, there was a sad moment when some fans outside the stadium were hit by a car. The game was delayed briefly, but thankfully, the match continued.

Espanyol played well in the first half, but Barca’s goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny made some big saves to keep the score 0-0.

Then came the magic moment — Lamine Yamal, the young star, took the ball near the sideline, ran across the edge of the box, and curved the ball beautifully into the top corner. It’s a move he has practiced many times, said his teammate Pedri.

Pedri also shared how proud and happy the team is:
“You don’t win a league every day. This one was tough, and we really enjoyed it — so did the fans.”

Barca’s confidence grew after the first goal. Espanyol’s Leandro Cabrera was later sent off for elbowing Yamal. And finally, Lopez scored the second goal to seal the win and kick off the celebrations.
