Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé says the French champions remain fully motivated to defend their European crown as they prepare to face Arsenal in Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final.
PSG, who lifted the trophy for the first time last season, are aiming to retain their title at the Puskás Aréna, while Arsenal are chasing a first-ever Champions League triumph under manager Mikel Arteta.
Dembélé said the squad’s mentality remains focused and competitive as they approach one of the biggest matches of the season.
“We are enjoying every moment, but we are very focused,” Dembélé told reporters. “We have a young squad, strong staff and players who want to win trophies.”
“We are hungry to win everything, the Champions League, the league and the cup. To be great players, you have to win these kinds of trophies many times.”
PSG have combined domestic dominance with European success in recent seasons, and Dembélé believes that consistency is key to maintaining their level at the top of the game.
He also dismissed concerns over a calf problem picked up earlier in May, saying it did not threaten his participation in the final.
“I was never afraid of missing the final,” he said. “I stopped as soon as I felt something small and had enough time to prepare.”
The 27-year-old enjoyed a standout season in PSG’s previous European campaign and has remained central to their attacking structure. Despite individual accolades, including the Ballon d’Or last year, Dembélé said personal recognition is not his focus.
“Winning awards does not change much for me,” he said. “I have more responsibility now, but my priority is always the team.”
“All I care about is performing in big games and helping the club win more trophies. Individual awards come after that.”
PSG enter the final as defending champions, while Arsenal arrive with renewed confidence and a chance to make history in European football’s biggest club fixture.
