The 2025/26 Primeira Liga season concluded with FC Porto lifting the title after a strong campaign that saw them finish ahead of city rivals and challengers in a tightly contested race.
Porto sealed top spot with 88 points from 34 matches, recording 28 wins, four draws and just two defeats, finishing five points clear of Sporting CP in second place.
Benfica ended the season in third place on 80 points, completing an unbeaten league campaign under manager José Mourinho, but with 11 draws preventing a serious title push.
Despite not losing a single league match, Benfica were unable to match Porto’s consistency in decisive moments, particularly in tight fixtures where dropped points proved costly over the course of the season.
Sporting CP remained in contention for much of the campaign and ultimately finished runners-up on 82 points, supported by a strong attacking record and consistent late-season form.
Braga secured fourth place with 59 points, ahead of Famalicão in fifth, while Gil Vicente and Moreirense completed the top half of the table.
Benfica’s campaign, although unbeaten, highlighted the fine margins of title races, where consistency in avoiding defeat is not always enough without converting draws into victories.
