Real Madrid are preparing to submit a dossier to UEFA concerning the ongoing Negreira case involving FC Barcelona, according to reports in Spanish media.
The move follows previous comments from Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez, who described the affair as one of the most serious controversies in Spanish football and pledged to compile evidence for European football authorities to review.
According to reports, the dossier has now been completed and could soon be presented to UEFA for assessment. Real Madrid are reportedly seeking a review of Barcelona’s participation in European competitions and want UEFA to examine whether any sporting sanctions are warranted if wrongdoing is established.
The Negreira case centres on payments made by Barcelona to companies linked to former Spanish refereeing official José María Enríquez Negreira. Barcelona have consistently denied any attempt to influence referees and maintain that the payments were for consultancy and technical reports.
Club president Joan Laporta has repeatedly rejected allegations of corruption, insisting there is no evidence that Barcelona gained sporting advantages from the arrangements.
“Everything that has been said about the Negreira case is false,” Laporta said previously. “There is no case against Barcelona, and we will continue to defend the club against these accusations.”
The latest development comes as relations between Real Madrid and UEFA have improved following tensions created by the proposed European Super League project, which remains inactive.
Perez, who recently secured another term as Real Madrid president, is expected to move forward with the submission in the coming weeks. Any decision on potential action would rest with UEFA, which would first need to review the evidence and determine whether disciplinary proceedings are justified.
The Negreira case remains under legal and regulatory scrutiny in Spain, with no final ruling having been issued regarding the allegations.
