Brøndby 3-1 Silkeborg: Leaders Extend Unbeaten Superliga Run

Brøndby strengthened their position at the top of the Danish Superliga with a 3-1 home victory over Silkeborg on Monday, extending their unbeaten start to the 2026/27 campaign.

The result moved Brøndby onto 13 points after five matches, maintaining their strong start under head coach Thomas Nørgaard. They had entered the fixture with three wins and a draw from their opening four league games.

Silkeborg, meanwhile, suffered their third defeat of the campaign and remained on four points. They had won once, drawn once and lost twice in their opening four matches before travelling to Brøndby Stadion.

The victory also continued Brøndby’s impressive recent record against Silkeborg. Brøndby had won their two previous Danish Superliga meetings, including a 2-0 away victory in November 2025 and a 3-0 home success in July 2025.

Brøndby maintain early-season momentum

Brøndby’s latest victory follows a consistent opening to the campaign.

Nørgaard’s side began the season with a 1-1 draw away to AGF before recording successive wins over Viborg, AC Horsens and Sønderjyske. Their 3-2 victory over Sønderjyske in the previous round had been more complicated than the scoreline initially suggested, with Brøndby establishing a three-goal advantage before conceding twice in the second half.

The Silkeborg result therefore provided another important three points as Brøndby continue to set the pace in the early stages of the Superliga season.

Brøndby’s home form has been particularly encouraging. They had already beaten Viborg 1-0 at Brøndby Stadion in their first home league match of the season before overcoming Sønderjyske 3-2.

Silkeborg struggle to keep pace

Silkeborg arrived in Copenhagen having taken four points from their first four matches.

Their campaign began with a 1-1 draw away to Randers, followed by a 3-1 home defeat against FC Copenhagen. They then responded with a 1-0 victory over OB before losing 1-0 away to FC Nordsjælland.

The defeat at Brøndby adds to a difficult run against one of the division’s leading sides. Silkeborg had also lost 3-0 at Brøndby in July 2025 and 0-2 at home to Brøndby later that year.

Brøndby establish themselves among early leaders

Brøndby’s 13-point tally puts them at the summit after five rounds, although several clubs remain close behind.

Before Monday’s fixture, Viborg, FC Nordsjælland, Brøndby and FC Midtjylland had all collected 10 points, while FC Copenhagen had nine.

That makes Brøndby’s unbeaten record particularly significant. Rather than relying on one outstanding result, Nørgaard’s team have accumulated points consistently across the opening weeks of the season.

Their next league fixture will take them away to FC Nordsjælland on August 30, another meeting between teams competing near the top of the early Superliga standings. Brøndby will then face Randers, FC Midtjylland and FC Copenhagen in September, giving them a demanding test of their title credentials.

For now, however, the 3-1 victory over Silkeborg keeps Brøndby unbeaten and firmly in control of their early-season title challenge.
