Paris Saint-Germain produced a dramatic 5-4 win over Bayern Munich in their UEFA Champions League semi final first leg, in a record-breaking match that delivered the highest scoring game at this stage of the competition.
The clash at the Parc des Princes lived up to expectations from the opening whistle, with both teams attacking relentlessly in a fast-paced encounter.
Bayern took the lead in the 17th minute when Harry Kane converted a penalty after William Pacho fouled Luis Díaz in the box. The goal marked another milestone for Kane, extending his scoring run in the competition.
PSG responded quickly, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia finishing calmly to level the score before João Neves headed the hosts in front from a corner.
Bayern hit back before halftime as Michael Olise scored to make it 2-2, but the momentum shifted again when Ousmane Dembélé converted from the spot in stoppage time following a handball decision against Alphonso Davies.
PSG carried that energy into the second half. Kvaratskhelia struck again after combining with Achraf Hakimi, before Dembélé added a fifth moments later to give the hosts a two-goal cushion.
Bayern refused to back down. Dayot Upamecano pulled one back with a header from Joshua Kimmich’s delivery, and Díaz reduced the deficit further after linking up with Kane.
Despite late pressure, PSG held on to secure a narrow advantage heading into the return leg in Munich.
The result also marked a milestone for PSG coach Luis Enrique, who reached 50 Champions League wins faster than any other manager. The victory ended a difficult run against Bayern and halted the German side’s winning streak in all competitions.
With nine goals already scored, the tie remains finely balanced ahead of the second leg at the Allianz Arena.
