Kane Says His Partnership with Son Was One of the Best Ever
Harry Kane praised his old Tottenham teammate Son Heung-min, calling their playing partnership “one of the best” in Premier League history after Son left the club.
Son and Kane scored 47 goals together during their time at Spurs, making them a deadly attacking duo for almost 10 years. On Wednesday, the 33-year-old South Korean captain signed with Los Angeles FC in a big-money MLS move.
Son joined Tottenham from German club Bayer Leverkusen in 2015. In his time there, he scored 173 goals and made 101 assists in 454 games. He also helped Spurs win their first trophy in 17 years when they won the Europa League in May.
“Huge congratulations to him on his Tottenham career,” said Kane, who now plays for Bayern Munich, after his team beat Spurs 4-0 in a friendly match on Thursday.
“He’s a great person first. I got to know him really well as a friend – he’s so humble and just a good guy.
“As players, we had one of the best partnerships in Premier League history. We just clicked and loved playing together.
“It’s perfect that his Tottenham career ended with winning a trophy last year… Now he’s starting fresh in LA, and I wish him the best. I hope we can meet up soon.”
Kane played most of his career at Spurs after joining their youth academy at age 11. He scored a club-record 280 goals in over 430 games before moving to Bayern Munich in August 2023.
