Robert Lewandowski received an emotional farewell from FC Barcelona supporters during Sunday’s La Liga clash against Real Betis at Camp Nou.
The 37-year-old striker recently confirmed he will leave Barcelona at the end of the season after four successful years with the Catalan club.
Lewandowski started the match in attack as fans inside Camp Nou paid tribute to one of the club’s modern greats.
Supporters displayed banners, waved shirts carrying his famous No. 9, and repeatedly chanted his name throughout the evening as Barcelona celebrated both their league title and the striker’s contribution to the club.
The Poland international leaves Barcelona after scoring 119 goals and helping the club win three major trophies during his time in Spain.
Lewandowski also enjoyed another outstanding campaign this season, scoring 42 goals across all competitions as Barcelona secured the La Liga title.
Several teammates shared emotional moments with the veteran forward before kickoff and after the match, including midfielder Gavi, who embraced Lewandowski during the celebrations.
Barcelona’s decision to part ways with the striker is also expected to help ease the club’s wage structure as they continue planning for the future under manager Hansi Flick.
Despite announcing his departure, Lewandowski has not yet confirmed where he will play next season, with several clubs reportedly monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window.
For many Barcelona supporters, Sunday’s farewell marked the end of a memorable era led by one of Europe’s most consistent goalscorers.
