Mikel Arteta has been named Premier League Manager of the Season after leading Arsenal to a historic league title triumph.
The Spaniard guided Arsenal to their first English league crown in 22 years, ending a wait that stretched back to the legendary 2003-04 “Invincibles” campaign under Arsène Wenger.
After finishing as runners-up in three consecutive seasons, Arteta finally delivered the breakthrough Arsenal supporters had been craving, securing the club’s 14th top-flight title.
His achievement also places him in Arsenal history as the first manager since Wenger to win the Premier League Manager of the Season award.
Arsenal’s Dominant Premier League Campaign
Arteta’s side combined defensive strength with attacking consistency throughout the campaign.
Arsenal finished the season with the best defensive record in the league, while goalkeeper David Raya secured the Premier League Golden Glove award.
Going forward, the Gunners scored 71 league goals, finishing behind only Manchester City in the scoring charts.
The balance between defence and attack proved crucial as Arsenal maintained consistency during the title race and eventually pulled clear of their rivals.
Arteta Makes Premier League History
Arteta also achieved a unique milestone with Arsenal’s success.
The former midfielder became the first manager to win the Premier League title with the same club he represented as a player during his professional career.
Since taking charge at the Emirates Stadium, Arteta has rebuilt Arsenal into one of Europe’s strongest teams, combining young talent with tactical discipline and strong leadership.
Strong Competition for Manager Award
Mikel Arteta beat several high-profile managers to claim the award, including:
- Pep Guardiola of Manchester City
- Andoni Iraola of AFC Bournemouth
- Michael Carrick of Manchester United
- Régis Le Bris of Sunderland
- Keith Andrews of Brentford
The award reflects Arteta’s impact on Arsenal’s return to the summit of English football and confirms his place among the elite managers in the game today.
