Few strikers of the modern era have scored as reliably as Robert Lewandowski. For almost two decades, the Polish forward has found the net at every level, from the third tier of Polish football to the Champions League and, since the summer of 2026, Major League Soccer.
So what is the number? As of early October 2026, Lewandowski has scored around 761 official goals for club and country: roughly 669 for his clubs and 92 for Poland. Below, we break down that total, explain why sources sometimes disagree, and look at the records that sit behind it.
Robert Lewandowski Career Goals by Team
The table counts competitive matches only. Friendlies are not included, and the figures are correct before Chicago Fire’s match against Vancouver Whitecaps on 6 October 2026.
| Team | Years | Goals |
| Polish clubs (Delta Warsaw, Znicz Pruszków, Lech Poznań) | 2005 to 2010 | approx. 95 |
| Borussia Dortmund | 2010 to 2014 | 103 |

| Total (official matches) | approx. 761 |
Why Different Sources Give Different Totals
Lewandowski’s career goal count depends on which matches are included. Most media counts add every official goal, including those he scored in Poland’s lower divisions as a teenager. Stricter counts leave out some of these early games. For example, when most outlets celebrated his 700th goal in October 2024, the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) still listed him on 646.
How Lewandowski Built His Total
Early Years in Poland
Born in Warsaw on 21 August 1988, Lewandowski started with fourth-tier Delta Warsaw before moving to Znicz Pruszków. He was the top scorer in Poland’s third division in 2006/07 and the second division in 2007/08. At Lech Poznań he then won the top-flight scoring title in 2009/10, making him the leading scorer in all three of Poland’s top divisions.
Borussia Dortmund
At Dortmund, Lewandowski scored 103 goals in four seasons and won two Bundesliga titles. His most famous night came on 24 April 2013, when he scored all four goals in a 4-1 win over Real Madrid. He became the first player to score four times in a Champions League semi-final.
Bayern Munich
Bayern is where Lewandowski became a goal machine. He scored 344 goals in 375 matches, and after his first season he never scored fewer than 40 in a campaign. In 2019/20 he hit a career-best 55 goals as Bayern won the Champions League. A year later, his 41 Bundesliga goals broke Gerd Müller’s single-season record of 40, which had stood since 1972. He was named FIFA’s best men’s player in 2020 and 2021.
Barcelona
Lewandowski joined Barcelona in 2022 and won the Pichichi Trophy in his first season with 23 La Liga goals. His best campaign was 2024/25, with 42 goals in 52 games. He left in May 2026 with 120 goals, three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cups, scoring in his final game against Valencia.
Chicago Fire
Chicago Fire announced his signing as a Designated Player on 29 June 2026. He scored twice on his Soldier Field debut against Charlotte FC on 1 August and has six MLS goals in 11 appearances, plus one in the Leagues Cup.
Lewandowski’s International Goals for Poland
Lewandowski is Poland’s all-time top scorer and most-capped player. He passed Włodzimierz Lubański’s record of 48 goals with a hat-trick against Armenia in October 2017. On 2 October 2026, aged 38, he scored another hat-trick in a 6-0 Nations League win over Romania, his seventh for Poland, taking him to 92 goals in 170 appearances. That came months after Poland missed the 2026 World Cup following a play-off defeat to Sweden.
Where He Ranks Among the All-Time Greats
Lewandowski scored 312 Bundesliga goals, second only to Müller, and 83 more in La Liga. He is third in Champions League history behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, and one of only three players to reach 100 goals in the competition. Only Ronaldo and Messi have scored more goals in the 21st century.
With a contract in Chicago running until the end of the 2027/28 MLS season, Lewandowski still has time to add to his total. Around 39 more goals would take him to 800, a mark reached by only a handful of players in football history.
