PSG Reach Champions League Final After Beating Arsenal
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have made it to the UEFA Champions League final after beating Arsenal 2-1 in the second leg of the semi-final. With this win, they secured a 3-1 victory on aggregate and became only the third French team to reach multiple finals.
PSG had a small lead from the first leg, and Arsenal came to Paris hoping to make a comeback. However, history wasn’t on their side—they had never won a European tie after losing the first leg at home. Still, they started strongly. Declan Rice came close with a header, and PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma made two brilliant saves to stop Martinelli and Ødegaard in the first 10 minutes.
But PSG didn’t panic. They showed their own attacking strength when Kvaratskhelia hit the post with a curling shot. Soon after, Fabián Ruiz scored a stunning goal with his left foot after a corner kick fell to him. It was his first ever goal in the Champions League. Raya then made a good save to stop Barcola from scoring another.
Arsenal came out fighting after the break. Bukayo Saka nearly scored, but Donnarumma pulled off another fantastic save. Then came a dramatic moment—Hakimi’s shot hit Myles Lewis-Skelly’s hand, and the referee gave a penalty. Luckily for Arsenal, Raya saved Vitinha’s penalty to keep them in the game.
However, PSG struck again. Hakimi scored with a powerful shot after a mistake by Partey, giving PSG a strong lead. Just when it seemed over, Trossard battled past Marquinhos and passed to Saka, who scored from close range. Arsenal still needed one more goal to stay in it, and Saka had a great chance, but missed an open net.
PSG held on and are now just one game away from their first Champions League title. They join French clubs Reims and Marseille as the only teams from Ligue 1 to reach the final more than once. For Arsenal, it was heartbreak again—the sixth time they’ve been knocked out of Europe after losing the first leg at home. They now face a fifth straight season without a major trophy.
